About & methodology

The research arm behind expedition.insure.

Insurance Corpus is the digital research arm of expedition.insure. How could anyone recommend the best insurance for a once-in-a-lifetime trip without knowing everything that's out there? We look out for travellers by knowing the entire market.

What the Corpus is

A corpus is a complete, structured body of texts assembled for study. Ours is the world's travel-insurance policy wordings — 750 of them so far — extracted into 17,931 comparable clauses across ~135 insurers and 59 markets. It sells nothing directly. It demonstrates depth of knowledge, then hands the traveller to expedition.insure to get covered.

How it's built

  1. Acquisition. We source the actual policy wordings — the binding documents, not marketing summaries — market by market.
  2. Extraction. Each wording is parsed into structured clauses: benefits, limits, exclusions, conditions. The clause is the unit of study.
  3. Structuring. Clauses are normalised so plans become comparable across insurers, markets, plan families and cover types.
  4. Review. The workbench lets our desk read any clause in context. The roadmap openly separates what's extracted from what's in development.

Why breadth means better placement

You cannot recommend the best coverage from a shortlist. The more of the market we've read, the smaller the chance a traveller ends up in a wording with a gap that mattered. Breadth is not a vanity metric — it is the precondition for good advice. What expedition.insure places you in, we have read first.

Public breadth, gated depth

These public pages show scope: insurers, markets, plan families, cover types and aggregate counts. The actual clause text and the interactive workbench live behind app.insurancecorpus.com, for members. Depth is a capability we mention, not a lock we dangle.

Run our engine on your inventory

Our clause-extraction engine runs on our existing corpus — or on your own inventory. If you're a broker or building something that needs structured policy data, tell us which.
